Before you call, look at these

Smell gas? Skip all of this. Leave the house and call your gas company from outside.

  1. Thermostat

    Set to Heat, and set above the temperature in the room. Swap the batteries if the screen is blank.

  2. Furnace switch

    It looks like a light switch, on or near the furnace. It's easy to knock off by accident.

  3. Filter

    A clogged filter can make a furnace shut itself off. If you can't see light through it, change it.

  1. Thermostat

    Set to Cool, and set below the temperature in the room. Swap the batteries if the screen is blank.

  2. Breaker

    Look for a tripped AC breaker in your panel. If it trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call us.

  3. Filter

    A clogged filter can choke the airflow and freeze the coil. If you see ice on the lines, switch the AC off, then change the filter.
